The three largest feedlots in Argentina have the capacity to hold 90,000 head, 60,000 head, and 35,000 head of cattle.

The US had around a 60 year breakup with Argentina exports due to foot and mouth disease. Picking imports back up in the late 90s.

Transit time by ship in refrigeratored containers is around 18-25 days. It takes around 60-90 days for it to be placed on supermarket shelves.

The beef is wet aged.

The majority of beef from Argentina is lean trimmings that are made into cheap ground beef.

Earlier this year one of their largest packing facilities suffered a devastating fire.

So with these beef prices from the supermarkets being unaffordable, the family is looking at purchasing a half cow. People that have done it before in West Tennessee, who do you recommend? It seems the current administration is about to bring in a bunch of beef imported from Argentina... We would prefer to buy American beef and help out our ranchers. So who should we call to get this done?

In 2015, a cow from DeKalb, Texas, made headlines by giving birth to four healthy calves—a highly unusual event in cattle reproduction.

The odds of a cow delivering quadruplets, all of which survive, are estimated at just 1 in 11.2 million.

The calves—named Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moo—were born to a crossbreed cow owned by the Choate family on their farm.

According to news reports at the time (such as CBS News and local Texas outlets), veterinarians and animal science experts confirmed the rarity of this birth.

While cows can occasionally have twins, and even more rarely triplets, the survival of all four calves from a single pregnancy is virtually unheard of.

Typically, multiple births in cows result in complications or loss of one or more calves, but this case defied those odds.

The calves were born naturally and survived infancy, which added to the uniqueness of the event.

The story gained attention across the country, not only due to its biological rarity but also because of the charming names given to the calves.

The birth highlighted both the unpredictable wonders of animal biology and the dedication of the farmers who ensured the mother and calves were well cared for.

WE NORMALLY STAY OUT OF HEADLINES…

…but this one’s about something close to our hearts.

Since opening Okie Family Market in 2023, we’ve had the privilege of working side by side with countless Oklahoma farmers and ranchers — and one thing’s become clear: most people have no idea what really goes on behind the scenes.

We used to be just like that… until we opened our doors.

We’ve seen it.
We’ve heard their stories.
And here’s the truth….no one’s getting rich.

Most of the men and women raising your beef, chicken, and other livestock products do it out of love for the land and a desire to make a difference. They’re not chasing wealth — they’re working sunup to sundown to make just enough to keep food on their own tables and fuel in their trucks.

👉 We know times are tough and prices are high, But we’re putting friendly competition aside to say this:

👉If you don’t shop with us at Okie Family Market — find someone local you trust. Whether it’s a storefront, a small butcher, or a rancher down the road… your support could completely change their month.

Keep lifting up Oklahoma farmers and ranchers. They’re the backbone of our food system… and they need us now more than ever.

Support small. Support local. Support Oklahoma Farmers and Ranchers.

See y’all at the Market!
