Neighbors helping neighbors.
Monday night, neighbor Buzz reached out—his two-day-old calf had slipped under the fence and gone missing. It was already dark, and with coyotes active in the area, the situation was serious. A search started, but no sign of the calf.
Then Tuesday night around 8:30–9:00, we got the message—Brandy had found the calf in our pasture, mixed in with our donkeys and horses. It had crossed through Jay and Susan’s property and made its way under our fence.
Our little shepherd pup stepped up and helped keep the calf corralled until someone could handle it. Brandy gave it her best shot, but even at two days old, that calf was strong.
Buzz made it down and, after tracking it toward the back of the property near the swamp and culvert, was able to get it rounded up.
Best part—calf is back home with mama and doing well.
This is what it’s all about: neighbors supporting neighbors, friends helping friends, ranchers looking out for each other. Community matters.
