Things have been busy on the farm lately! We have sold some goats and acquired new ones plus had our very first calf born on 1/9/23. A darling red Dexter heifer named Scarlet.
We also rescued a 7 month old Bay Filly (Chessie) who has been a great addition and is proving to be a great Auntie to Scarlet. Herb has been working with her and she has learned a great deal in a short amount of time.
We will hopefully be hatching some baby chicks in a little less than 3 weeks. We currently have 29 eggs in the incubator. We are down to 3 hens and one rooster so trying to replenish the flock and get more laying hens especially with the price of eggs lately π«£
I sent off paperwork to the Myotonic Goat Registry to become an official breeder. We have decided to focus solely on the Myotonic breed as far as goats go. I've always dreamed of having a pasture full of little fainters β€οΈ. With that being said, we have rehomed our old man Donald Trump as he had gotten aggressive with us and we could not risk him hurting the boys or anyone else. Very thankful I found a home for him and a couple of our Nigerian bucks because I didn't want them going to freezer camp π± We found a very handsome buckling that will be our breeder buck when he gets older and the does get older. Just picked up two does yesterday and one of them is due to kid any day so we are looking forward to that. Didn't think we would be having any kids soon so that's always exciting!
