Just got some crackers from one of our market stands and want to do something with them? Make some hummus with me as a dip for Ric’s Bread’s crackers!
Recipe:
1 and 1/2 cups of canned chick peas (or soaked and boiled!)
1/3 cup tahini
Lemon juice (to taste; start with a tablespoon and add more as you taste test—or juice a whole lemon like me!)
1 or more garlic cloves (like garlic a lot? I suggest 3-5!)
Reserved chick pea water (“bean water”) or just water (at least 1 tablespoon, likely more to get your desired texture)
Salt to taste
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender. If you’re not sure what you like, add smaller amounts of the lemon juice, garlic, salt, and water.
2. Blend for about 30 seconds or until smooth. If past thirty seconds and the mixture is not smooth, add a bit more bean water (a tablespoon) and mix again. Repeat until smooth.
3. When close to a desired texture, taste it and add more lemon, salt, garlic, or water as desired. Blend and repeat until you just can’t stop eating it.
4. Dip a cracker and enjoy!
