One of the biggest adjustments we are having with our new farm, is the lack of hours in a day. When you both work full time jobs, getting home and continuing to grind is challenging. There’s fence that needs up, animals to care for, garden space to prep, seeds to start and even with all of this, there’s still dinner that needs on the table along with all indoor chores. We can do this though, because coming in at 10 o’clock at night with dirty hands and knees, you feel more than accomplished. We can step outside our porch as we leave for work to see what our efforts have done in the morning sun. All that we’re doing benefits is as a whole. It builds character and grit.

If I could just start off every morning like I did this one, that would be fantastic. Making breakfast over a fire while the crisp air wraps around your face is pretty special. Something about it really makes you feel alive, almost vulnerable. Oh, and this cowboy coffee is seriously the best coffee you will ever come to drink.

Yesterday, it started to feel like spring here on the homestead. The birds were out, the ground was sloppy and for some valuable bits of time the sun even came out from the clouds. We took complete advantage of the day and started working some well needed projects. For one, the light needed fixed so it got fixed! Enjoy your Sunday friends, tomorrow starts a new week.

Our first two eggs!! Our girls haven’t even been here a full day and they are already providing for us! Animals are just so amazing to me, and I am very grateful for their gifts. The feeling of being able to harvest your own food is so pure and heart filling.

Good morning friends, thank you so much for following along beside us on our journey to simple living. Here, we plan to share our experience as beginner homesteaders as we grow our little farm. I hope this page can become an escape from daily stressors and always make you feel at home. Please remember, we are new to this and have so much to learn.
