Connor (Blue or Lavender Sweetgrass) and his hens trying out one of the new pens. Cassidy is the dark hen in front (I think Semi-Pencilled Palm). While egg production was hit or miss in this pen, I'm hopeful next year will be better in a bigger pen with more hens. Connor is a excellent tom, is very gentle and calm.

Well crud, got last 4 poults up to barn and didn't take any pictures!? I was distracted by seeing one of my heat lamps had failed. Got it switched out and poults look okay. Lucky this happened while temps are fair to downright hot. But this is another reason we prefer larger groups of poults,15-20 can share body heat longer. Always have backup heat lamps and bulbs, always.

2 brooders going! 4 wet/smaller poults in incubator the rest are in barn. I get 4 whole days til time for next lockdown! I have 2 outstanding egg orders, disappointed they didn't ship when I ordered. It's going to get hotter and viability drops off a cliff in wrong conditions. I do have a few homegrown eggs left-wanted to run them with my orders but if sellers don't ship til July, or not at all, will loose viability of my homegrown eggs. Decisions, decisions!

Last night I lifted small incubator and gently rolled eggs apart because one of my followers thought one egg was stuck a bit-20 minutes later poult finished zipping. This morning I have 5/5 Marshmallow poults and I think 5 Connor poults. 2 more to hatch. Leaving incubator alone is difficult but generally for the best!

These eggs driving me crazy! Day #27 and stuck at 3 total hatched. I really want to take a peak but incubator isn't gonna be opened til I grab the hatched ones. I left incubators at a lower humidity, 65-70% versus the regular 75% because the one hatch (13/13) did better. But those eggs I swear were going to hatch no matter what, I think I could've put them in mailbox to hatch. These ones are being mysterious! Grrr!
