Right now, the Massachusetts Legislature is considering S.3040 – An Act Fostering Agricultural Resilience in Massachusetts.

This bill is about investing in the future of agriculture in our state by helping farms and agricultural businesses remain strong, productive, and sustainable.

As many of you know, agriculture in Massachusetts isn't easy. Rising costs, aging infrastructure, and development pressures make it harder every year for family farms to survive. Every farm that disappears takes with it local food production, open space, jobs, and a way of life that has defined our communities for generations.

Whether you're a farmer, horse owner, backyard chicken keeper, 4-H family, or someone who simply believes in supporting local agriculture, your voice matters.

Big things are happening at R & R Wirtes Grain.

After months of planning, hard work, and a few installation hurdles along the way, our new paddle mixer is officially up and running — and we couldn’t be more excited about what it means for the future.

This new system allows us to produce larger batches more efficiently while being gentler on the grain, giving our customers an even more consistent, high-quality feed. Along with all new power infrastructure, it positions us for stronger reliability and less downtime moving forward.

The last mixer served this mill for roughly 40 years. We fully expect this one to carry us well into the future too.

When we purchased this business last year, there were plenty of rumors and doubts about whether we’d make it. Investments like this should make one thing very clear:

We are here to stay.
