Quail Babies!

No I don't have giant hands, they're actually that small!! πŸ˜„
These Jumbo Coturnix Quail chicks are no bigger around then a quarter and weigh about as much as a cotton ball. They're all completely exhausted from the hard work of hatching and taking a much needed nap under their brooder lamp. ❀️

We had planned to set up at the Corydon Swap yesterday but our weekend definitely didn't go as planned. My oldest son's stomach bug turned out to be appendicitis. 😣 He is already feeling much better after having emergency surgery yesterday to have it removed. Thank you to all my chicken and farm community friends for sending your thoughts and prayers. Now that I know he is on the road to recovery, I have chicks that need new homes! Below is a list of what I have available. Please send me a message if you're interested. Located in Lanesville.

You guessed it!

The breed known as the, "Lamborghini of Chickens" is the Ayam Cemani!

Ayam Cemani's are a rare breed of chicken that have origins in Indonesia. They were once thought to have mystical healing powers and are still a highly sought after breed.

Their unique features include their all Black coloring. Their feathers, skin, eyes, even their internal organs and bones are all completely black!

In the culinary world, their all black meat will only occasionally appear in the most expensive restaurants.

Unfortunately, contrary to the myth they do not lay black eggs. πŸ˜…

I've been waiting for MONTHS for these babies. Don't let their mild appearance fool you. The chicks that will hatch from these eggs are knows as the, "Lamborghini of Chickens"!!

The baby Quail are 2 weeks old!!

The quail pictured are Jumbo Coturnix Quail and are one of the largest of the quail species. They are bred and kept for both eggs and meat. They will reach maturity by the time they are just 5-6 weeks old (for processing) and begin laying eggs at just 8 WEEKS old!!! 🀯

What a difference ONE WEEK can make!! These 65 Jumbo Coturnix Quail chicks are quickly out growing their hatchling brooder box and will be moving on up to their big kid brooder in the next 2 days. It's amazing how fast they grow! They will be full grown at 5 weeks old and begin to lay eggs at 8 weeks.

All of these chicks are spoken for but my quail breeding plan will be up and running in just a couple weeks. 😍
