Owners Marilyn Stuller and husband Dennis McClary raise and sell registered, pure bred, polled Icelandic sheep, an ancient breed virtually unchanged since the Vikings brought them to Iceland in the 9th and 10th centuries. First imported to Canada in the 80's they were soon imported to the USA. Our sheep are registered with ISBONA (Icelandic Sheep Breeders Association of America) and the Canadian
Livestock Records Corporation (CLRC). The Icelandic sheep produces a dual coated fleece with a downy inner coat (thel) and a soft, long fibered, outer coat (tog). They are among the most colorful sheep in the world. On our farm we have chocolate browns (moorit), grays of many shades, black, creamy champagne, tans and white. We have many color patterns. Mouflon, badger face, black spotted, and moorit spotted describe some of the patterns. This unique wool is a favorite of fiber enthusiasts. Our lambs are born in April. These hardy lambs can grow to market weight on grazing alone. Our lambs are pasture raised. Their diet is predominantly grass with hay and some grain in the winter free of antibiotic or artificial growth hormone. In Iceland, they are raised for their fiber, milk and meat which is mild tasting and lean. It is a favorite of American gourmet chefs. Our meat is processed in a nearby, state of the art, USDA certified facility.
