Good afternoon! A gorgeous Tuesday. High of 76. I’d say it’s a perfect day for some ice cream and it’s just 76 cents per scoop!

Before this next part I need to say first don’t get overly excited. Don’t all come running at once. We are opening the strawberry patch as of this post. Picking is slim. We’ve been picking them and quietly putting them out for sale. The patch is to the left of the store next to the picnic tables. There will be a traffic cone marking the first row. You can bring your own container and stop in the store first to weigh it. Pay in the store when you’re done. $3 per pound. The price is low because picking is difficult. I can’t say they’re organic but they have not been sprayed this year. The crop was so light it wasn’t worth doing that.

I would not recommend driving from far away. I would not come if you’re expecting easy picking or a lot of them. They were hit hard this year by frost. Hopefully next year will be better.

Good morning! Woodbourne Rd PSA. I’ve been told they will be finishing the paving in front of the store and down at the new light today. Assuming they won’t start til 9. Friday they were done by 3:30. The wait will be worth it for a $6.99 7” hoagie though. Right?

Good morning! Just a heads up Woodbourne is being paved today. It’s one lane from Big Oak to the light I think. So far it’s been a poorly managed 💩 show with terrible flagging, shouting, cursing, and a good near miss. I’ve been enjoying every second of it 🤣. It’s running smoother now but traffic is gonna be pretty bad. So I’d love to tell you about $5.99 single smash burgers for lunch but maybe wait til dinner. Maybe just another week or two and I’ll never have to tell you guys about road closures again?

Back on 4/20 Lawn Barn was kind enough to let me borrow their propane torch. It was extremely helpful for lighting fires that night. It’s part of the reason we have any crop to talk about. I’ve never pushed the “shop local” idea but I live it. Any chance I get I’ll buy saws, bars, chains, oil, propane, and more from him instead of the big box stores down the road. I’ll plow his lot and in turn they come buy lunch all the time or help me fix broken equipment for free. Always feels like the way things should be.

Within half a mile of us is a nice little local economy that purchases, uses their services, borrows, or just helps each other in any way they can.

DKC landscaping employees come in every day. We let them park cars here when it snows and they lent me a big snow pusher.

Stocker tree service helps trim trees around the buildings and lends me generators. He’s always looking out for us.

Shimp Mechanical did a big sewer job for us, supports our 4th of July celebration, loans me generators, and buys lunch all the time.

Aristaeus Brewery. You guys know we partner with them all the time but they’re often in for lunch and I grab a beer from them when I can.

J M Pereira concrete guys are in every day and while I don’t get to use their services directly they did help fix the I95 bridge. I spoke up in a meeting for their new building project. Also have enjoyable conversations with their employees every week.

In a world of massive national corporations it’s refreshing to have this. Neighboring businesses who work together and support each other. If you can please call these guys first for anything you might need it’ll help us too!
