Season shrimp with paprika, salt and pepper, set aside while preparing spaghetti squashโฃ

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.โฃ
Cut squash lengthwise and scrape out and discard seeds, place squash face down on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.โฃ
Roast for 25 minutes, remove from oven and let sit to cool. Once cooled scrape out squash into a bowl using a fork to create long spaghetti strands.โฃ

Place oil in large skillet and add shrimp, green onions and garlic, cook for a few minutes until shrimp are pink set aside, cover and keep warm.โฃ
โฃ
Place squash and spinach in skillet heat until spinach wilts, stir in basil and lemon juice, season with salt and pepper.โฃ
Plate immediate and top with shrimp.โฃ
You may add more salt, pepper and lemon juice if desired.โฃ

- Tip: Maintenance substitute butter for oil.โฃ

- Tip: Maintenance add fresh Parmesan Cheese to the finished plate.

Ideal Protein at Innovative Aesthetics

Delicious IP approved Chocolate Caramel Pumpkin Spice COOKIES! Follow along with our amazing Chef, Janette! Give this a โค๏ธ if youโ€™re going to try this!

Ingredients:
1 packet of Chocolate Caramel Mug Cake
1/2 cup of rutabaga purรฉe (see recipe below)
1/2 of 1 beaten egg
1/2 tsp pumpkin spice
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp. of Walden Farms caramel or IP maple syrup
1/2 tsp caramel extract (optional)

Directions:
In a small bowl beat 1 egg and divide in half. Using 1/2 beaten egg add rutabaga purรฉe, and choice of caramel or maple syrup, and caramel extract if using. In a medium bowl add chocolate caramel mug cake, baking soda, and pumpkin spice. Mix well. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Drop heaping teaspoons onto sheet, spacing well apart. Make a nice round shape with the back of a spoon, keeping batter at least 1/4 inch think. Bake for 15 min for a soft cookie, a few minutes more if you prefer a harder cookie.

Rutabaga Purรฉe
- Rutabaga
-1/2 tsp IP salt
- Peeled. Diced into small cubes (best to work it in 4 cup batches)

Recipe by: credit goes out to Dea from Low Carb Baking

Method:
In a medium saucepan, cover rutabaga with water, and sprinkle 1/2 tsp of IP salt over water. Bring to a boil, cover the saucepan, and reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook rutabaga for 30-40 minutes, you want the rutabaga soft and tender.
Remove from heat. Strain in a colander, and let completely cool. Recommend leaving in colander as it cools to let the rutabaga release its water. Once cooled, purรฉe or mash until smooth. Cover and store in the fridge. If water pools on top of the pureed rutabaga, drain off before use. Rutabaga purรฉe can be sweetened and spiced to your preference.

Protein is the building block of the human body and a crucial part of complete nutrition. Carbohydrates are easy to find or grab off the shelf, but protein-rich foods usually require a bit more preparation.

In phase 1, weโ€™ve made protein intake easier for youโ€”youโ€™ll be able to choose from many Ideal Protein products for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Our products are made with the highest quality protein to help keep you full longer. Our protein is delivered in an โ€œisolateโ€ form, which is absorbed faster to help transform your metabolism and protect lean muscle mass.

For dinner each night, youโ€™ll eat a whole protein of your choice. Animal products are probably the source of protein you are most familiar with, but not all of them are appropriate for phase 1. During phase 1, you should look for lean sources of protein prepared without added oils and breading. There may be options below that you havenโ€™t liked in the past, but that doesnโ€™t mean you wonโ€™t like them prepared differently nowโ€”and if you still donโ€™t, try some other options! Hereโ€™s a rundown of some of the most popular protein sources (see your Ideal Protein phase 1 shopping list for specific recommendations for whole protein sources):

Beef
Beef is a great source of protein, but a diet based solely on beef could lead to high cholesterol and heart problems. Look for lean cuts of steak to pan grill or barbecue, or pot roasts for slow oven roasting or placing in your slow cooker. Extra-lean ground beef can be browned and seasoned or made into burger patties. The key to fantastic beef is a combination of seasoning and cooking time, so grab a meat thermometer the next time youโ€™re out grocery shopping and avoid guessing when your beef is done.

Pork
No, weโ€™re not suggesting you have bacon for breakfast! You can opt for lean ham or pork tenderloin, however.

Wild Game
Wild and/or organic game really does have distinctive flavor, so it can be an acquired taste. Venison, elk, and bison are all richly flavored, lean alternatives to beef.

Poultry
Tired of chicken breasts? We understand! Chicken is often touted as a superior protein because itโ€™s lean, but chicken alone gets boring fast. Try roasting turkey drumsticks or breasts, or even a whole bird, in the oven. Wild birds like pheasant and game hens also offer lean, not-chicken protein options.

Seafood
Seafood is an excellent source of protein, and the variety in texture and flavor mean nearly everyone can find a type of seafood they love. Shellfish tend to be โ€œsweeter,โ€ but can become rubbery if overcooked, so prepare with caution. If you normally turn up your nose because fish smells or tastes too โ€œfishy,โ€ try branching out to other types of fish and preparation styles. Donโ€™t forget that freshness is the single most important factor in the flavor of any type of seafood.

Tofu
Even if you arenโ€™t a vegetarian, donโ€™t ignore the protein offered by plants. Plain tofu offers the most protein bang per serving, and this boring-looking white block can be incredibly versatile and soaks up the flavor of whatever it is cooked with. Simply sub for chicken or fish in a recipe, or look for tofu-specific recipes.

Preparation
Seasoning is essential for any food, and doubly so for protein. If youโ€™re attempting to cook something new, do a quick search for recipes to get an idea what spices and herbs will pair best. Choose packaged seasonings carefully, as theyโ€™re often little more than salt, and can contain hidden sugar. Check recommended cooking times and internal temperatures for meats to ensure you never overcook them again.

As you can see, there are many different types of protein foods to round out your phase 1 meals. Experiment with new-to-you varieties, and you just might find some new favorites!

With a Master's in Nutrition and Bachelor's degree in Culinary & Food Services Management, Candice is an expert on food and nutrition. Having over four years of weight loss coaching experience and some amazing success stories, she is excited to help clients meet their weight loss goals and maintain their success for the rest of their lives.

Growing up she played competitive soccer and basketball and coached youth teams in both sports. Recently she has trained and completed several marathons an achievement she never thought possible. Candice is constantly challenging herself and working towards reaching her next goal. She carries this drive into helping others in reaching what they are striving for and becoming their best self.
