Planting out your new tomato plants?

We recommend digging an oversized hole, dousing it with a lot of water, adding a tablespoon of epsom salt and a dose of either fish emulsion or general purpose fertilizer.

Bury the plant deep. Roots will develop off of the hairy stem.

Tomato production is good here at our urban experiment in Lansing MI.

We have 8 heirloom tomato plants started from organic seed each growing in a 20 gallon fabric grow bag. They are watered as needed with the water directly applied to the soil.

We fertilized weekly (or less) with Miracle Grow soluble All Purpose Plant Food (24-8-16).

We use these as slicers for BLTs, on burgers and roasted for pasta sauce.
