It’s like every force of nature working against me while my energy goes to waste. People dumping trash, the vermin eating all the lettuce, random people cutting through property at night knocking over trays of plants, the tools and other goods being stolen, and on and on. All while never being enough to find any teammates. Pretty hard to stay positive when I can endlessly help others and problem solve for them, while mine continue to add up daily. Also there are garlic scapes, snow and snap peas, and spinach to harvest. From a big dream to an impossible nightmare every day.

Happy Monday. I’d give almost anything to have any kind of reliable teammate in anything food or plant related. I can try my hardest, but it’s never enough to move things forward, and I never really have anyone watching my back to have a day off, or while working a day job. Please don’t comment about volunteering. A couple hours is helpful, but also not what is going to turn things around. Consistency and continuity of help is what’s needed. Having anyone else(or several folks)but one person with passion for propagating and growing plants to know what’s going on and pushing things to get done, or planning for the season and future would be ideal, but rugged individualism gets everyone in the mentality of starting their own little farm. Then we all compete for the same limited dollars being spent on local goods. Lansing seems very insular, with very little actual collective collaboration or teamwork between farms/businesses in general. I’ve heard this from a few different folks that moved here from out of state, and not entirely sure of the cause. Anyways, have a great day! I hope you hear the symphony.
