Our Story
Celebrate the family and the season with a holiday hayride at Christmas in the Crevasse in LaPlace. In 1871, the mighty Mississippi River broke through the levee near what is now known as the Bonnet Carre Spillway, and cut a wide channel to Lake Pontchartrain. The levee break is called a "crevasse". The location of Christmas in the Crevasse was part of the channel carved by the Mississippi river over 140 years ago. Christmas in the Crevasse features hay rides through 5 acres of farm land with more than 80 lighted Christmas displays starting on Thanksgiving night, November 22, and then Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30-9:00 PM, and Sundays until December 30 from 5:30-8 PM. The farm is located on Shadowbrook Lane in LaPlace, three blocks off McReine Rd. Hay wagons will depart every 20 minutes. Make reservations for your church, business or civic organization for the days we are not open to the public to celebrate. Come take your fun Christmas pictures with several stand-ins. Admission is free for children under 2, $3 for 3-12 years and $5 for 13 -100 years of age. Free parking, bathroom facilities on site.
