Check it out! π€© We got to do a podcast! Farmer Becca talks all things local food, small farm viability, and the power of food to build community -- with dignity.
Weβre so incredibly honored to be part of this powerful conversation on the Food Dignity Podcast - Episode 242: Food Dignity Through Local Farming π
In this episode, host Clancy Harrison, MS, RDN, FAND of The Food Dignity Movement and our own Farm to Food Access Manager, Becca Tuholski, MPH, lift up a truth we see every day in Northwest Indiana through our work: food access is so much more than food distribution⦠It's about dignity, relationships, and trust.
At the NWI Food Council, our work is rooted in cultivating those connections. We believe that when we bring local farmers, families, and community partners to the same table β and we truly listen and engage β we can build a food system that nourishes people and sustains the hands that grow and produce our food.
This means:
π Investing in our local farmers (not extracting from them)
π€ Building relationships that are relational, not simply transactional
π₯¬ Creating pathways for fresh, culturally-relevant food to reach our neighbors with dignity
As highlighted in this episode, lasting change happens when solutions are community-led and when small farms are centered from the start as essential partners.
Thatβs truly the heart of our work β supporting small farm viability while strengthening the fabric of our local food system, through our unwavering commitment to Food Justice for All β
