🥚Hatched April 2025 & August 2025
🥚After a long inner battle with myself I decided to shift back to my love of Welsummers, & the Marans I keep will move into my olive Egger program.

I got Welsummers on a whim back in 2017, and I instantly fell in love with their beautiful speckles and gentle, docile personalities. 🐓🤎

I recently saw Farmstead Provisions: a homestead’s post talking about following your own path and focusing on what truly brings you joy in the chicken world — and it honestly hit me like a ton of bricks. While I absolutely love my Marans, they just don’t light me up quite like my Welsummers do.

So, I’ll be downsizing my Maran flock and bringing my focus back to the Wellie — the breed that started my speckled egg journey in the first place. And I couldn’t be more excited. ✨

-non broody
-friendly if you raise them as babies

Fun facts:

🥚They have thick insulation and three feather types—wooly, smooth, or feather-legged.
🥚They are known to continue laying eggs throughout the winter, even in freezing temperatures.
🥚Up to 5 steady laying years; 150-200 eggs a year.
🥚A critically rare breed with a single flock found in the early 80s in central Sweden.
