We recently measured the omega fatty acid profile for our beef as well as the beef from another farmer and from the supermarket. Our western diet is packed with inflammatory omega 6 fatty acids. Similar to salmon, our beef is packed with good omega 3's and has very few omega 6's. We can feel how healthy our beef is and now we have data to back it up!

I really enjoy geeking out on regenerative agriculture farming podcasts. Advancing Eco Agriculture's podcast is my favorite. They delve into the science of farming down to a molecular level. The below podcast features Dr. Stephan van Vliet, Duke University Molecular Physiology Institute at the Duke University School of Medicine. He explains how his clinical trails have shown the impact of what cattle eat on the nutrient density of the resulting beef. It is a very exciting episode and it motivates me more to continue to improve our product every year. Enjoy!

Its finally spring which means the garden is growing. My family was out of town so I had a buddy over the other night and we cooked a rib-eye steak and enjoyed it with fresh asparagus and spinach from the garden. Sometimes I don't do a great job on the grill and some nights it I luck out and pull the steak at just the right time. This one was a winner. Some people say that you have to sacrifice taste if you are going to eat grass-fed beef. There was no sacrificing for us. It was amazing.

Karl here - the owner of Sunlight & Rain, Grass-Fed Beef, a grass-fed beef operation located right outside Sioux Falls, SD. I’m here to tell you a little bit about myself and my business, and why you should choose our beef for your next meal.

I’m a former F16 pilot who served in the US Air Force and Air Guard for many years. I love this country and I’m proud of my service. After I retired from the military, I decided to follow my passion and start a grass-fed beef operation. Farming is in my blood and my family has been farming for generations. My dad taught me everything I know about raising cattle and taking care of the land.
Our beef is 100% grass-fed and hormone-free. Our cows graze on lush green pastures and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. They are happy and healthy, and so is their meat. Grass-fed beef has many benefits over conventional beef, such as lower fat, higher omega-3s, more vitamins and minerals, and better taste . It’s also better for the environment, as it reduces, soil erosion, water pollution, and biodiversity loss .
