In the early 1980's, Mario and Socorro Campisi wondered what it would take to bring the traditional foods of Italy and Mexico they had grown up with to the mass marketplace for all to enjoy. They didn’t want to make generic, factory-style foods. Their idea was to share the authenticity, style and flavor of the culinary delights they experienced as children. They wanted the foods done right.
In 1982, Mario and Socorro established West Best Foods, a small-scale manufacturing operation in a sub-leased space within an existing USDA-inspected factory. With more ingenuity than cash, they painstakingly stayed true and committed to their original vision. Assembling every item by hand, the operation quickly grew.
In just a few short years, the start-up enterprise started to show signs of success. The company continued to prosper over time, quickly gaining a reputation for authenticity and quality. Mario and Socorro eventually took over the entire industrial building that housed their original operation and went from selling to a small number of companies to servicing some of the largest hotels and casinos in the world.
Today, West Best Foods is a multi-generational family-owned company that continues to take pride in the quality of every product. Socorro still works daily to oversee that each item is made to her standards, her sons oversee all sales and logistics, and her grandchildren are learning every step it takes to maintain a successful business you can take personal pride in.
