I am so excited to introduce you to some great wines from a boutique producer I have worked with for the past couple of years. With over 300 years of family winemaking tradition in Europe, Ralph Hertelendy has endeavored to make his own mark with delicious, opulent wines from the Napa Valley.

Regularly hailed with scores in the high 90s from the major critics and journals and recently achieving their first 100-pt score, these wines are extremely small production and not easy to find. Ralph, along with associate winemaker Phillip Titus (Chappellet, Titus) crafts Bordeaux inspired wines from premier Napa vineyards, seeking to strike exceptional balance, combining hedonism with finesse.

2019 Chardonnay- Woolsey Road Vineyard in Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast (prior vintages coming from the prized Ritchie Vineyard.)

2019 Audere- A multi-vineyard Bordeaux blend meant for everyday enjoyment. Food friendly, layered and luscious.

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon- Comprised heavily from mountain/hillside fruit for exceptional structure.

2018 Signature Mountain Blend- Ralph's "baby" primarily from his own Rockwell Ridge Vineyard just below the demarcation line of Howell Mountain in the newly minted Crystal Springs AVA. This is his love letter to Merlot, his "Napa Petrus."

He also crafts small amounts of outstanding Cabernet Franc and when certain barrels show exception, Legend, the creme de la creme of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Another wine reviewing site? Not quite. Here I seek to remove the qualitative format and rather arbitrary scoring of wines, hence saying "bye" to the numbers. Simply my own impressions on a wine with maybe some aging thoughts and that's it; then YOU decide if it's a wine for you to seek out.
