The Bakehouse came about due to my love for creativity and cooking and also my desire to be self-employed. My family opened the first ever Samoan restaurant in Las Vegas in 2001, I was just 16. Our second restaurant opened in 2004, operated by just my mother and I, as in: my mom- the hostess, waitress and cashier and Me: the cook, dishwasher and everything in between. Running a restaurant is not an easy feat with long hours and A LOT of elbow grease. With graduating high school, growing up and life in general, it was a family decision to close our doors and live a "normal" life. In 2010, I travelled to New Zealand to be an apprentice under a local baker in North Shore; He created meat pies, sausage rolls and every pastry familiar to Kiwi's that were the talk of the town. Combining my love and sassiness in the kitchen, my knowledge from New Zealand and my love for my hometown, Las Vegas, I give you the most authentic New Zealand meat pie experience.
