This is more than funnel cakes. This is Ohana. โค๏ธ
When people see Great American Funnel Cakes, they see the food, the festivals, the crowds and all the fun that comes with what we do. But behind Great American has always been something much bigger.
Different cultures. Different backgrounds. One Ohana, one Pamilya. No matter how we say it, weโre family. โค๏ธ
Our nieces, nephews and family have been a huge part of Great American Funnel Cakes throughout the years. Theyโve worked beside us, traveled with us, laughed with us and helped keep this going through the good times and some of the hardest times.
One person who will forever be a part of that story is Christie.
When Christie was battling stage four breast cancer, our Ohana came together around her. wasnโt just something we put on a shirt. It was all of us standing together, supporting her and letting her know she was never fighting alone.
Looking back at these pictures now means more than I can put into words. Christie may no longer be here with us physically, but her spirit and the love she brought to this family are still very much alive.
And all these years later, our nieces and nephews are still beside us, helping carry on Great American Funnel Cakes and that same spirit of Ohana.
Thatโs what these pictures remind me of. Great American has never just been about funnel cakes. Itโs about the people beside us, the memories weโve made and the family that keeps showing up for one another.
CHRISTIE STRONG then. CHRISTIE STRONG forever. !!!๐โค๏ธ๐๐๐๐๐ผ
Her memory will always be a part of who we are and what we do.
