Achievement Night
What an amazing night! We were able to celebrate our fabulous Leaders, Volunteers, Counselors, Portfolio Winners, Teen of the Year, Leader of the Year, Members, and so much more. You could tell from anywhere it was an Enchanted Evening. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Sorry we don't have horsemanship for 8 year olds. Members have to be 9 years old before they can be around live horses.
Please contact Las Vegas 4-H administration at (702) 257-5524 to learn about other 4-H clubs for younger kids.

NATRC is holding a great ride next month at Boyd Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ. You can ride for 1/2 a day, 1 day, overnight or 2 overnights. Beginners and advanced divisions. Its a great way to have access to an amazing ranch with corrals, showers, bathrooms, etc. Camp with your horse, good times with fellow riders, a chance to ride amazing trails and you can try for awards and placements, or just ride. Mules and horses, juniors, adults and seniors. All are welcome. My 12 year old daughter will be there with her MFT.

Alright 4-H are you ready to come out and have some fun with obstacles? There's a new kid in town called Equine Trail Sports, it's been around for about 5 years now but there hasn't been any rides hosted in Nevada. We have both Obstacle Courses (OC) and Trail Obstacle Courses (TC). Students 22 and under get free memberships, the cost for an OC is $20, the cost for a TC is $25 for students.
The great thing about ETS obstacle courses is they don't all have to be done in the arena but can be done on the grounds or even a short trail course as well, a rider can enter multiple horses or more than one rider can ride the same horse (not at the same time :) ) there is no set time limit on each obstacle and (this is my favorite!!) we can use up to 12 obstacles with 1 judge for 2 obstacles so you can have 5 or 6 riders competing at the same time. That means less people standing around, more riders to watch compete and it moves everything along quicker!
The other neat thing about ETS is you can have a buddy stand and watch you from horseback at the obstacle, great if you have a buddy sour horse or just want to see a friendly face of encouragement! (No help verbal or otherwise though)

TBT 4-H edition. I was active n 4-H when I was in elementary school. Here are just a few of my pictures from Home and Sewing projects. I challenge other leaders to post "vintage" photos from their 4-H days!
Here is the link to ACTHA. There is an arena obstacle challenge in Boulder City on July 31st. The next event is in Sandy Valley Sept. 5-6 and is a CTR (trail). That is the weekend of the POSS show in Pahrump. If anyone is seriously interested and will commit, I will forgo the show and year end standings to take the club to Sand Valley. I know it is several months in advance, but I do ask for a commitment by August 21st. I believe you can enter one or both days.
ACTHA is very casual. You don't need feed fancy tack, clothes or a pedigreed horse. Last one I went to was on a lesson horse who hadn't been off the ranch in years and we won two of the 5 obstacles. The cool thing is, unlike shows, the judges have the discretion to award points for partnership between you and your horse. If you even try, you could still get points on something you think you didn't pass.
