Lot of corn acres being POST sprayed right now. Please make sure to check the stage of your corn, especially on the late March and early April plant dates. Most corn herbicide labels have cut offs starting at around V6 thru around V9. These are there for a reason. If applications are made past that you run the risk of crop injury. If you have ever seen what a Sulfonylurea herbicide application made too late does to ear development, let’s just say you never forget it.

And my pet peeve. Count collars. I don’t like using height. It’s too subjective. Collars tell you the age. Height doesn’t. And we are concerned with age with regard to herbicide interaction.

Call or txt if you have questions or need a second set of eyes on something.

Tuesday Tech Talk. Soybeans stand edition. If you have farmed in MO for more than 24 hours you know it can be challenging. 2026 is proving to be no different.

April planted bean field are struggling to emerge in some areas. It’s still plenty early for full yield potential so let’s make sure we have enough beans out there. We are looking for 4-5 beans per foot in 15 inch rows and 8-10 beans per foot in 30 inch rows. If you do need to replant my advise has always been to drop in and go.

Also if you had early planted beans be sure to check them again. We had some frost and freeze damage from a few weeks ago. Areas of the field with little cover held their own. Areas with cover crop or heavy winter annual cover didn’t fair so well due to a reduced radiant heat blanket.

Few pics of good and bad stands along with some early beans 10 feet from each other in the same field. Only difference being cover.

Call or txt if you need a second opinion on things.
