Orchard Ridge Farm of Kecksburg has been selling fresh produce raised in Westmoreland and surrounding Counties at Lapps Family Market on the east edge of Latrobe across from Lazor Furniture since July of 2017.

The countdown is on, we have three more weeks before our season ends. The weather this week looks a bit interesting but we are set up and ready and will be here at Lapp Family Market thru Saturday. We've added Granny Smith apples to our selection and are hoping to add more before the season ends. Lots of tomatoes, cabbage, onions, peppers and potatoes. We still have cukes and cukes and fresh garlic. Lots of pumpkins and decoratives. Carrots and fresh lettuce and of course, apple c***r. Wednesday thru Friday 9-5, and Saturday 9-4.

And finally the September weather has arrived! That means that it is apple season. We have added McIntosh and Ambrosia to our apple display this week. We have all your apple needs covered whether you are slicing and snacking or baking and making sauce. Ask about half bushel pricing to.save on apples. We have beautiful carrots, Bartlett pears, purple Concord grapes (ask about box prices for making grape juice etc), peppers of all colors, broccoli, the last of the strawberries, sweet corn, cabbage and a lot more. It looks a lot like fall at the produce market, and maybe, just maybe that means some cooler days and chilly nights. One can dream, right? We have pumpkins and apple c***r! Pie pumpkins and colored and stackers. Still strawberries, lettuce again this week, excellent sweet corn, lots of apples and the usual lineup of veggies. We have a few beautiful heirloom tomatoes as well as a few canning tomatoes by the half bushel. A new supply of really nice sweet potatoes and plenty of cabbage. We're at it again at the Lapp Family Market in Latrobe bringing you fresh fruits.and vegetables every Wednesday thru Saturday. We've added Cortland Apples to our selection, it's time for apple pies and dumplings. We also have the first of the decorative pumpkins if you're already decorating. We have strawberries again this week and a supply of nice canning tomatoes if you need some by the half bushel box. We have local lettuce, beautiful green leaf in nice large heads. Last chance for watermelon and cantaloupe, when they're gone they're gone for the season. Really good cabbages this week and our regular excellent sweet corn. We have lots of fresh garlic at a new lower price. Wednesday thru Friday 9-5, Saturday 9-4.

An end of the week update, we are gearing up for a big day tomorrow, we have cantaloupes and watermelon for your end of summer parties. We will have a supply of freshly picked sweet corn tomorrow (Saturday) morning. We have added Bartlett pears, Honey Crisp applea and beautiful plums. Lots of peppers, tomatoes and all the regular veggies. Lapp.Family Market 9-4 on Saturday.

We're looking forward to a big week going into a holiday weekend! Monday holidays are awesome, we need a break. Our market is a beautiful combination of summer and fall, we have added more apples, Concord and Niagara grapes, some really nice Okra (a first for us), and several varieties of squash. WARNING: this will likely be the last week for watermelon and cantaloupe, there may be a few next week but not a lot. Sweet corn will continue for several weeks and it is delicious, we source from the same grower in Jennerstown every week and it is top notch. The market is gorgeous this time of year, come see us at Lapp Family Market in Latrobe, Wednesday thru Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-4.

It's the last week of August, school is starting and there are some important changes at the produce market. Peach season is over, we are looking forward to a better season next year when we can offer really good local peaches. The SC peaches were ok but the quality has really dropped and we are moving on. ALSO, the cantaloupe and watermelon season is going to come to an abrupt end, the wet, rainy weather has been tough for farmers and the quantity and quality of melons in particular has suffered. Do not be surprised if next week is the end of the melons. Wet weather is not bad for everything, sweet corn is abundant, cabbage is really beautiful, and we have some PA apples. Ok folks, the first signs of the changing season have hit our produce market! We have beautiful pears, a few patty pan squash and... Drumroll...we have fresh PA apples! Only Gala at this point but more will follow in the next few weeks. And I bit into one this morning and it tasted terrific. It's a loaded time of the year, it's all here, come take a look at summer before pumpkins, gourds and squash completely take over. The sweet corn is fantastic this week, we have a few blackberries, carrots, peppers of all sorts, lots of watermelon and cantaloupe, come and get it!

The best of the summer growing season is right now, the middle of August, our market looks terrific this morning, piled high with all of summer's bounty. We are at the Lapp Family Market in Latrobe, we are open Wednesday thru Saturday 9-5, except Saturday we close at 4. This week we have it all, come see for yourself, everything from strawberries to zucchini and everything in between. Have a great day, make it a good one, summer is slipping through our fingers.
