As the 2025 NC Grand Champion in Wreaths, Joe and Mistletoe Meadows provided beautiful Fraser fir wreaths to Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt’s office located in the historic Hawkins-Hartness House and also provided wreaths and garland for the NC State Capitol building this holiday season.
Yesterday, Joe saw all of the Mistletoe Meadows decorations in place in Raleigh and officially presented Governor Josh Stein with a beautiful wreath of Fraser fir, boxwood, and Leyland cypress. Joe also included a little Mistletoe Meadows wooden Christmas ornament created from Fraser fir wood. But the real star of the wreath presentation was the 12 loop handcrafted bow, tied by none other than Mistletoe Meadows Master Bowmaker, Mary Frances Hall. Joe’s Aunt Mary Frances has tied literally thousands of bows over the years and has taught many others the exquisite art of crafting a hand-tied bow. At 90, she’s still awe inspiring! It was indeed an honor to explain to Governor Stein just what a special lady handcrafted the bow on the Mistletoe Meadows wreath. Go Mary Frances!
Mistletoe Meadows and other colleagues in the NC Christmas tree and greenery industry had a wonderful day of tours and hospitality celebrating agriculture, hard work, and high honors.
Thank you to Governor Stein and his staff, the staff of Lt. Governor Hunt, and to NC Commissioner of Labor Luke Farley. Special thanks to Capitol Museum Curator Anna Freeman for her fascinating behind-the-scenes tour and to NC Christmas Tree Association Executive Director Jennifer Greene for coordinating the presentation event day!
