What are we doing Wednesday. Still pulling the last of the honey off and extracting a couple days a week. There will definitely bee a honey shortage this year all over the country. Since we added a new member to our family this week, I thought we would talk about baby bees which we call brood. In a beehive the bottom 2 boxes is where you will find the brood. A queen lays 1800 to 2000 eggs a day cause bees only live 6 weeks in the summer, this way there is always bees to replace the dying bees.

We have a new little bee in the Drange Apiary Family. Our employee Schalk Peach and his wife had a beautiful baby girl over the weekend. Thank goodness for technology so Schalk could be their virtually. Schalk doesn't go home till end of Oct.. The downside of working in another country. Please say a blessing for this sweet baby and her parents.

What are we doing Wednesday. The guys are on the second round (second time to hives) of pulling honey. There isn't much honey left out there.Some bees we have started to feed. Below is a good explanation of how honey is made. Not sure made this but thank you.

What are we doing Wednesday. We are still extracting a couple days a week and pulling honey everyday. We did slip off to Fair on Monday to see how our goats did at the fair. For those new to the page we also have a herd of meat goats. 4-H and FFA are important to us and we are proud supporters. Both Andy and Jodie did 4-H growing up and Andy also did FFA. Their kids went through the 4-H program also and are still involved as volunteers. We will be at the livestock sale helping out on Saturday. Buying an animal at the livestock fair is a great way to fill your freezer with meat grown locally. If you are interested in supporting these kids call the extension office at 406-256-2828.

What are we doing Wednesday. We are still pulling honey. Captions on pictures. We extract honey a couple days a week. Jodie gave presentations twice last week at CARE camps.
