Drange’s Meat Goats We are Jodie, Andy, and Spencer Drange. We own a small herd of Boer Goats. We live in Laurel, Montana. We try to provide a quality goat at an affordable price.

Yesterday was the goat show at Montana Fair. The kids who brought our goats really did a good job and we are very proud of them! I wish I had more pics of the winners. ( send pics) In the Beginner showmanship kids with our goats placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th. Way to go ! In the second Heavy weight class we had 6 goats in the class and they placed 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th. They sure looked good.

Good luck to those taking goats in today. We will be at Fair Monday to cheer you on. Can’t wait to see all the hard work...

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed classical scrapie in a sheep slaughtered at a facility in Oregon on July 31. This is the first case of scrapie found in the U.S. in more than five years.

Scrapie is a fatal, degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system of sheep and goats.

The U.S. was on the way to eradicating the disease by 2028, if it could make it 7 years without a new case, but this confirmed detection could reset the timeline. Read more about the case at the link in the comments.

Carbon county fair has come to an end and ended on a great note for Drange’s meat goats. Two young men did an awesome job with goats out of our stock. Payton won carcass and Colton won reserve carcass champion. Payton purchased 2 goats from us in March and Colton we have worked with using our Bucks. Colton always shows up when we need help with our goats. We are very proud of the work they did with their goats this year!

Want to give a shout Payton with Red Lodge FFA. He purchased two goats from us this year and also helped us with our goats . The two goats he got from us ( #1 and #3) come back for final drive and # 1 placed in the top 5 overall at the Carbon County fair. Payton we are proud of all the hard work you put in to taking care of your goats.
