Downsizing My Homestead

Managing a farm is a lot of work, and I've decided to simplify by downsizing my breeding herd.
Available:
2 Berkshire sows (4 & 2 years old)
1 Berkshire boar (8 months old)
2 Duroc sows (2 years old)
1 Duroc boar (2 years old)
1 crossbred gilt (possibly pregnant)

After a lot of consideration, I've decided to sell my breeding sows and boars. Running the farm by myself while dealing with ongoing health issues has made me realize I need to simplify for now.

I want everyone to know that I'm not closing my farm. I'll still be offering whole hogs and individual pork cuts, and I'm excited to continue serving my customers.

This isn't necessarily a permanent decision. I hope that one day, when circumstances allow, I'll be able to start breeding pigs again.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my farm. Your encouragement and loyalty mean the world to me, and I look forward to continuing to provide quality pork for years to come.

Heat stress on pigs is and can be devastating 😢
2 weeks ago our big boar and 2 pregnant sows stopped eating and drinking. Every 3 hours I give the water, electorate from water bottle. 1 mama was so bad I have to give her re**al hydration for three days straight, then antibiotics and something for inflammation. I was lucky and I was able to save them.
But I lost some pigs from another group 😫
Farming is hard and sometimes loss is inevitable
