Where we live, beavers are abundant. They are open season all year round because of how much damage they can cause in a short amount of time. This was a small beaver dam. They get much bigger! When you own land in a flood zone, with running water year round like we do, staying on top of beavers is the best way to manage your land. They are also very good eating! Today we are at a friend’s property blowing up a dam cause that’s how we roll! If the beavers return to fix the dam then we know we can set traps there. TN law says traps have to be checked every day so blowing up a dam is a good way to see if there is activity before we make daily trips to check the traps.
