🎃 A Special Announcement from Schaake’s Pumpkin Patch 🎃

Our patch will be closed on Tuesday Oct 6 and Tuesday Oct 13 as our family comes together to celebrate the life of someone very special.

For so many years, she was an important part of our family, our farm, and the story of Schaake’s Pumpkin Patch. Her love, hard work, and dedication helped shape the patch into what it is today, and her presence will forever be woven into the memories made here.

While our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the opportunity to pause, gather as a family, and celebrate a life that meant so much to all of us.

Thank you for understanding and for giving our family this time together. We know she would want the pumpkins to keep growing, the families to keep making memories, and the tradition she loved to continue. 🎃❤️

With love,
The Schaake Family

Celebrating the life of someone very special

We wanted to share with our pumpkin community that our “Pumpkin Queen”, Janet joined the angels in Heaven on Friday.

Her home was often a gathering place for family and friends, filled daily with work on the farm with field work, driving grain trucks to town, hoeing weeds out of beans, caring for the pumpkins, preserving her garden and taking care of her flowers, freezing sweet corn, tending to her ducks, and working cattle. Not once did you hear her complain or want to quit. She loved nothing more than serving up a home cooked meal whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, any day of the week, or spending time with her family and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

She was most recognized throughout the community as “the Pumpkin Patch Lady”. Whether through her ability to wrap a hundred dozen cookies and donuts or cook up a fresh batch of kettle corn all before 6am, open and unlock the sheds each morning, or repaint all the signs before the new pumpkin season comes, she was always overjoyed to welcome new and old friends to her home. She kept the long fall and harvest seasons warm with her constant hugs, hand rubs, and candy corn snacks. She left a lasting mark on the lives of those around her, teaching her family the importance of hard work, serving others, life on the farm, making crafts by hand, customer service with a smile, and building generational connections through other families out visiting.

Janet enjoyed painting pumpkins, writing notes, organizing scrap books, and spending time with her dogs. She especially loved watching her family grow.

We would love to invite you to her celebration of life on Tuesday, October 13th from 4pm to 8pm at Schaake’s Pumpkin Patch.

Janet leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and farming. She will be missed beyond words, remembered with gratitude, and loved always.
