Baby goats are the best! These two are either on full speed ahead or sleeping.

It’s lambing season here on the farm. These triplets are the the life of the lamb party.

We have whole and half hog available soon. They’ll be going to the butcher no later than next week. Let us know if you’d like in.

FYI-a half fits in a normal sized cooler-so you don’t need as much space as you think. 😜

Let us know by this Friday!

Look at the book I just found at my own library! I love being a librarian for so many reasons and one of them is that I often come across books that inspire me.
I render pork fat into lard and use for pie crust ( and making bird suet cakes!!) but heavily rely on avocado oil, coconut oil and butter for most of my cooking. I’m going to try some new recipes with lard. If any of you want to try it let me know. We have fat to render at only $2.50 lb. It’s super easy!

Overgrown Acres Farm helpers were amazing! We got through most of the herd today ( there are always the most reluctant participants who will be done another day). Thank you so much to our friend Bonita and new farm helper, John, for all your help. We got up close and personal with some enthusiastic sweet animals and some very unhappy ones too. I appreciate you both so much! (Yes, Anne A it’s the stand being put to good use!)

These three had a nice relaxing Saturday morning. At least someone got to sleep in.

Sheep, chickens, pigs, goats...they all need one form of attention or another today and plenty more to do tomorrow. If anyone wants to come help with annual shots, hoof trimming and worming just let Anne know. Must be able to climb fences, wrestle large unhappy animals and get dirty. You can have a real farm experience🐐🐑

It just occurred to me that we have been so disconnected from our FB farm friends as we do all our regular stuff as well as renovate another house. That seems to be the tipping point with staying connected. Good news is that the farmhouse is progressing and we will be in before spring. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Our turkeys were as delicious as ever. We have some 9.5-11 lb’ers in the freezer if you are interested in the best Christmas turkey you’ve ever had.

Anatomy makes a huge difference. As I was standing on one foot and trying to push a goats head back through the electric fence, I started to lose my balance. Instinct....what do I grab to steady myself? The grounding rod! POW! The fence is on and working. I got the jolt and the goat doesn’t seem to be bothered. Ugh

We have lamb cuts available now. Let us know what you’d like.

Also, 2 lambs are going to the butcher tomorrow AM. If you would like a half or whole cut the way you choose, let us know today.
