New City utility rates for water, sewer and solid waste will go into effect on Sunday, Jan. 1. Increasing utility rates will help the City keep up with utility maintenance, ensuring the reliability and sustainability of our operations. This is part of our ongoing effort toward a Connected City with well-maintained, functional, and efficient services.

Trash Day will be Tuesday, Feb 22, next week!

City offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of Presidents Day. Additional service alterations are noted below and detailed in our release: https://bit.ly/3GOzjXn
🗑 There will be no residential trash or recycling collection on Feb. 21. Collection will be delayed by one day for all residential customers during the holiday week.
🚗 Parking meters, lots and garages downtown will be free.
🚌 Lawrence Transit will operate its regular schedule.

“Now that we are in Phase 5 and we have seen a lower return rate for appointments on the interest form, we are glad to be able to open registration up to everyone 16 and older,” said Business Systems Analyst Charlie Bryan, chair of the Vaccination Planning Unit of Unified Command. “Douglas County has the highest vaccination rate in the state right now, and we know the work ahead of us is to continue to improve access and communication to all those who haven’t had their turn yet to get the vaccine.”

Clinics at the Douglas County Fairgrounds will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on:
- Tuesday, April 13; Wednesday, April 14; Thursday, April 15
- Tuesday, April 20’; Wednesday, April 21; Thursday, April 22
