Shew it was an evening here on the farm. Willow had been showing signs of labor for most of the day. She finally started pushing at almost 5 pm: however she wasn't pushing much. She presented with a water bag and still very little pushing. She did have a sac bust and then another bust. We gave her about 25 minutes because sometimes they are slow at getting things going, but my gut was telling me something was wrong because I had felt and couldn't feel a baby right there. So I made the call to go in.
When I got to her pelvic bone I felt legs and a head followed by another head right beside it. Yep two trying to come at once. I attempted to get them untangled with no real luck. So we called the vet. Our vet is amazing and got coming this way. I gave willow a few to rest and decided to try again. By this time her labor was completely stalled. She was not pushing at all. I went in and I don't know how but I managed to get one of the babies in front of the other. So now was time to bring it out. And that other head I felt thats exactly what it was head only. I got the head out and managed to pull the body out. It took some time he was a big boy. Then I went in for the second one who was bigger and one leg and head. I managed to finally get him out. Both alive.
At that point I made the decision to give her a rest. Vet was on the way. I wanted her to look her over. The vet ended up pulling one more. He was all the way up in there. And gave her some medicine to help pass the placenta.
So what we thought was two boys and a girl initially turned into 3 boys. One over 5 lbs, one over 4 and one a little over 2. All have ate. Willow is doing good. She got prophylactic antibiotics and banamine once the placenta had passed. All babies have eat, placenta came out. They are bonding with momma. I got Daisy milked, babies fed and all goats fed and put up for the night. And now I am preparing to shower because I am covered in all kinds of gunk 🤣.
Pictured below is momma and her babies shortly after their ever so chaotic birth. I have always worried about this presentation as well as a tucked head presentation. I have two more does left to kid. Hopefully they give me nice normal easy presentations because these girls have put me through the manual this year with presentations.
