Our Fitting and Showmanship Clinic is underway with Callum McKinven and Kathy Beerwort.
Callum and Kathy reside in Canton De Hatley, Quebec. They co-own and operate Lookout Holsteins and Jerseys with their three daughters, Tara, Brooke, and Alana, in Canton de Hatley, Quebec. Born on a dairy farm, Callum graduated from MacDonald College with a diploma in agriculture. A dedicated 4-H member, he came to appreciate a good animal, regardless of its breed.
He is a respected breeder, showman, and judge. Raising over 200 head and milking 30 cows, the McKinven family is active in showing and marketing animals in North America and around the world. They have twice owned the Junior Champion female at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, as well as an Intermediate Champion. The farm has garnered many All-Canadian and All-American awards.
Callum is a Canadian Official judge who is internationally renowned having judged in over 31 countries around the world and for all breeds. In North America, he has judged every major show including the National Black and White Holstein show in 1997 and 2012 at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, in addition to judging the Ayrshires, Jerseys, and Brown Swiss.
Callum has judged at the World Dairy Expo fourteen times and has also officiated both the Showmanship and Conformation at the TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic, as well as the former President’s Cup showmanship competition. Callum was the Official Judge for the last two World Holstein Conference shows in Dublin, Ireland in 2008, and in Toronto, Canada in 2012. He also judged the Hokkaido National Show in Japan in 2015 and the South African National Show in 2016.
To this day, Callum judges a few International shows each year and shares his knowledge of dairy cattle with dairy enthusiasts around the globe. Callum is also a popular choice for assisting with Judging schools across the country and around the world. Sharing his expertise and talent is part of who he is, he always takes time for young judges and anyone interested in showing cattle. In addition to his judging and showing accomplishments, Callum was the recipient of the Curtis Clark Award presented at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2000.
