Late Wednesday evening, after the last check for the day, a pack of coyote apparently thought it was ok to rampage our neck of the neighborhood. Freaking jerks.

We lost 4 layers including our oldest matriarch Eva Claire. She was the best hen you could ever ask for. Named in honor of my mom, she always greeted us, kept the ladies in line, and was still producing at over 5 years old. Her sweet attitude and sassy self will be greatly missed.

Neighbors down the road lost more than we did, even 2 cats. So we will be sitting on the porch again tonight, just like last night, and waiting until the auto- gate closes for the night.
