We have been silent for several days and are finally ready to share why. We feel it is necessary to address this publicly, as this incident occurred at our business during a public event.
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, my husband was subjected to racial discrimination and public humiliation by a man claiming to be a city inspector. This individual threatened to call ICE and demanded to see my husband’s “papers.”
On Saturday, December 20, 2025, while my husband was serving a customer at our food trailer, he saw the same individual inside another local food trailer. We immediately addressed the situation. When questioned about the incident from December 17th, the man laughed and denied knowing what we were referring to. My husband then approached and expressed how serious the situation was.
The assumed owner of that food truck came out and repeatedly minimized the behavior, stating, “that’s just how he talks,” “he was joking,” and later claiming he was “just excited there was another Mexican food trailer.” At no point did the individual who made the discriminatory remarks apologize or speak directly to my husband.
Afterward, the assumed owner approached me and continued to downplay the incident, bringing up her own ethnicity and sharing unrelated experiences involving derogatory language. I made it clear that we do not condone or engage in such behavior and that this was our very first interaction with them.
We are unsure if this behavior has happened to others or how far it could have gone had there not been witnesses present. This interaction took place publicly, in front of our children and other families.
We want to be very clear: our food trailer is fully licensed and inspected in the state of Oklahoma. My husband has full legal documentation to live and work in this country. He has done everything the “right way,” yet this is what he was met with.
We will be contacting the City of Lawton to verify whether this individual is truly a city inspector and will proceed accordingly.
We do not condone discrimination or harassment of any kind. We are humanitarians above all else, regardless of political, religious, or personal beliefs.
Due to this situation, we will be closed for the remainder of the year. We will post today tamales ready for pickup but it will be after the New Year on our next setup. We wish our friends, family, and patrons a happy holiday season, with warm wishes and safe travels. ❤️
