Your property now qualifies for the Landscape Lawn Exchange Program!
Cities in Davis, Morgan, Weber, and parts of Summit County can now participate. All property types qualify!

💧 The Landscape Lawn Exchange program is for the removal of lawn in any area of your property and replacing it with water-efficient ornamental plants and materials!

🚨 IMPORTANT:‼️
Applications MUST be approved BEFORE removing lawn.
💰To help with costs, we are offering:
$1.25 per sq. ft. – Cities without required water-efficient ordinances
$2.50 per sq. ft. – Cities that have adopted water-efficient landscape ordinances

The gateway tunnel was a marvel back in the day and is still running strong for Weber Water Basin Conservancy District
The tunnel is 9.4 feet in diameter, 3.25 miles long, and was completed in 1954. Workers started on each side of the mountain working toward each other. Employees worked three shifts six days a week, blasting through an average of 51 feet of mountainside per day. When they met in the middle, they were only off by 3 inches.
The men who lined the canal would have been very tenacious and couldn’t have been Claustrophobic. In the lining picture, you can see a decent-sized pipe running along the roof of the tunnel, this was a tremie-used to pipe concrete down the tunnel to where the workers needed it for the work.

The “As-Built” drawing mentions the following:
The Estimated Quantities of Materials:
Concrete, reinforced: 25 Cubic Yards (not Much) since the reinforcing was only called where materials (earth) were soft and most of the tunnel was through rock.
Concrete, tunnel lining: 17,500 Cubic Yards
Reinforcing Steel: 4,700 lbs. (also not much)
Tunnel Elevation Change Between Portals: 17.2 Feet
Length of Tunnel Between Portals: 17,204 Feet (3.25 Miles)

September is a great time to do landscape work. One area you can tackle is your parkstrip. There are incentives to help you if you choose to remove grass and replace it with more water efficient landscaping. There are many great plants that will add beauty to your yard and neighborhood. The irrigation can be easily converted from spray heads to drip systems making this very efficient.

Change your sprinkler timers!! Don't keep watering your lawn the same as summertime.

To have a healthy lawn and save water, adjust your sprinklers with the changing seasons.
The days are growing shorter, the weather is cooler, and your lawn doesn't need as much water. Cool Season lawn is turning green again with the cooler weather.

It's a great time to save water in September by limiting your watering!
