On Monday, Indigenous peoples day, we set up at the SRJC.
Before the event i had my badass sister and badass best friend set to help in the food truck. The morning of they BOTH had to cancel. So my sister sent my almost 15yr old twin nephews.
Within the first 30 mins of setting up, one of them pinched the skin off their finger in a table. Like his whole pad of his middle finger. I helped clean and bandage it and continued setting up. It was a rough start.
We started out serving slow and mellow. Then at some point, the line was like 30-40 people deep and it stayed that way for almost the rest of the event.
My nephew with the hurt finger ended up flipping my bread in the oil after I was throwing them in. That was his station for the day. One of the fry breads spit oil on him and the tongs flipped out of his hands and got me good
So I have a new fry bread burn. I told him im going to name it after him. 😆
I had to tell myself not to look up so I wouldn't get overwhelmed with the loooong line.
It was a perfect day weather wise. Maybe just a little warm. 🤏 🌞
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being patient with us. Everyone was really chill about the wait times.. and they were encouraging and kind. During the end of the event and after i heard our line was a 1hr 15 minute wait at times.
I heard people saying " its OK its worth the wait." And "Dont worry you guys are doing a great job".. I seriously couldn't look out the window.. 😆
We did our best being shortstaffed and Im super proud of my nephews they really stepped up and worked so hard all day. We were set to serve until 3 and ended up serving till like 430 I think.
It was so nice seeing family and loved ones. And I loove being apart of these events.
