Always get in a rush during cover crop season to stop and take a few pictures but if anybody is interested in cover crops we offer some good blend options or even just simple ones they will winterkill. Some favorite ones..

Oats/radish
Turnips
Cereal rye
Rye and camelina

Also some that produce some nitrogen for the corn crop next year w a mix of legumes and other species.

And if planning any waterway projects this fall we have some waterway mix on hand as well!

Save the date here. Jason and I will hosting our preharvest meeting Aug 27th at destihl brewery again.

Look forward to getting everybody back together for a meeting before harvest begins.

2026 said we aren’t done yet w diseases. Not confirmed yet with a lab but more than likely found a small pocket in a field of red crown rot today. Very small patch located here. No victrato applied on this field, but have some sxs locations in others.

Had a grower use the mix last fall it worked very well!

Latest updates of the major disease map from corteva and starting to get GLS moving up the plant in some mid May planted.

Did find the first suspected tar spot lesion out and about today on a cooler day than earlier this week. Not saying it’s a huge outbreak but did find a couple plants w it today.

Lastly common rust has been and is showing more visible signs now. Southern rust will look more orange like thank common to distinguish between the 2.

This is a really simple mix I have customers who use this mix.

Check out one of our favorite recipes! Our BeneTILL mix has oats and radish and is a simple but very beneficial mix for those new to cover cropping! This mix works well ahead of corn or soybeans. Got Logan’s soybean plot signed this morning and out scouting corn and some soybean fields and checking for timing of fungicide on some later planted fields.

Be keeping eyes on later May planted corn fields for aphids. They are not in every field and every corn hybrid but they are showing up.
