This morning, our youngest setter, Indiana, suddenly started whimpering and showing signs of distress when touched. Within minutes, her condition worsenedâshe cried out in pain without contact, I noticed her face drooping, the right side of her head swelling, and she began drooling and vomiting foam.
Thanks to a quick message to Dr. Dean Stringfellow at Magnolia Animal Clinic and his immediate response, we rushed Indiana there so he could get her in. Dr. Dean diagnosed her with Masticatory Muscle Myositis, an autoimmune disorder causing the muscles in the head to swell. Despite the scare, Indiana is going to be just fine all thanks to his expertise, timely intervention, and willingness to help.
Over the past 2.5 years, Dr. Dean has been a pillar of support for our family in Lucedale. From comforting us through the loss of our horse to navigating treatments for our pets and foster pets, including diagnosing tumors, treating founder, wellness checkups, and performing critical surgeries, his dedication is unparalleled. His direct involvement with local rescues further underscores his commitment and compassion to animal welfare.
No one ever wants their pet's health to be jeopardized, but having Dr. Dean on our side has been a blessing beyond measure, and he has given us immeasurable peace of mind for whatever the untold future brings. His care, skill, compassion, willingness, and empathy mean everything to us, and our animals are much the better for it. Lucedale is a better place for having a vet like Dr. Dean Stringfellow. Southern Veterinary Clinic is going to do GREAT things.
