It’s been a LONG TIME COMING but we finally have a fully functional kitchen sink with HOT water. And yes, I was able to epoxy the broken quartz countertop! 😁👷🏾‍♀️ Its not perfect but it works. In fact, that “good enough” energy is driving my sprint to finish the house.

There were many delays over the last six months due to injuries (e.g. the old torn meniscus and my ankle bursitis flared up; and I’ve developed some arthritis in a few fingers and a repetitive stress injury at the base of both thumbs). And the unexpected nonrenewal of a large contract I had been led to believe would be renewed has limited my ability to hire as much finishing help as I’d hoped. But I’ve been plugging, scraping, and pushing along. I’ll find out in the next week or so if it’s good enough for us to finally move into the main house next month.

Send prayers. Wish me luck. Oh and please let me know if you think you may have time in the next week to help with some finish projects.

I’m so grateful for friends who kicked off our 2025 Work Party Season today by helping w/caulking, lighting fixtures, window insulation, cutting the gorgeous red oak window trim, and clearing & mulching the area where the heirloom potatoes will grow!

The BBQ after was fun too, especially for Bennie who scored fallen ribs!

We are FINALLY in our home stretch for finishing the house! And are celebrating with what I hope will be the first of the last three work parties!

My 51 year old body has choice words for my 47 year old self that kicked off this journey. So I’m hoping some of y’all will be willing to come over on Saturday, May 17th to help keep up my momentum.

If you help, I will have home cookin’ for you! And maybe even the grill fired up! 😁

There’s an assortment of ways to help: inside and outside; tidying up; light woodworking; and some light fixtures! And don’t worry, we will have the apartment power turned off. 😁

Please let me know if you plan to come so that I can make sure to have enough food & beverages.

The “almost finished” stage is REALLY tedious in its difficulty, which is one of the reasons why I’ve not posted many updates lately. But this “farmhouse” vanity is a source of satisfaction for me. Because I’ve never built one before AND it means I’m DAYS away from having the plumbers back to add the finish plumbing (and toilets!).

Woohoo!!! The drywall is DONE! Now the finish work begins! And by now I mean on Saturday, if I can rent the paint sprayer then.

Well… alrighty then. I’m glad I finally finished the yard clean up this weekend! It’s so important not to have any hidden hazards along the path to our sledding hill!
