The reality is that conditions are changing from day to day. Yesterday we enjoyed beautiful blue skies, while today is hazy. Earlier this week, we had to close the farm due to hazardous AQI levels.

Weather Update:

The farm will be open to the public this weekend, for limited morning tours, Saturday - Monday. Advance Reservations Required. We are monitoring our AQI forecasts closely, and we expect current levels to decrease throughout the weekend.

The Little Giant Fire is currently burning ~ 22-30 miles NW of Leavenworth and is not directly threatening the farm. Air Quality and Smoke Levels will continue to vary depending on the wind.

We are so grateful for the brave men and women who are protecting our community from wildfire. LRF looks forward to welcoming the National Guard, Cal Fire and other members of our first responder community later this week for complimentary farm tours. Last weekend we welcomed firefighters from Australia who will be here for 6 weeks to help with the enormous efforts, and we are so grateful we could provide a bit of reprieve during their down time.

Now Hiring – Evening Farm Hand

Leavenworth Reindeer Farm is looking for a dependable, hard-working individual to join our farm team. Share this post if you know a qualified candidate!

Pay:
$18-25/hr based on experience

Schedule:
🦌 One required evening shift each Wednesday beginning approximately four hours before sunset. Shift times adjust seasonally with daylight. Part time and full time positions available. At least one day per weekend required. Set schedule offered.

Primary Duties:

* Feeding our reindeer
* Cleaning pens and maintaining animal areas
* General farm chores and property maintenance

This is an active, hands-on job that requires regular heavy lifting, working on your feet, and being comfortable outdoors in all weather conditions. Applicants should be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

* Experience operating tractors or other farm equipment
* Previous livestock or farm experience

While this role is focused on evening farm work, we’re also looking for someone who could eventually grow into one of our seasonal Pen Pal positions. Pen Pals work inside the reindeer enclosure during tours, helping create unforgettable guest experiences while caring for our animals.

Our first baby finally arrived, in the wee hours of the morning. We named her Derby, in honor of the historic Kentucky Derby win by the first female trainer in 152 years of racing. Here’s to all the girls out there making history! Who is coming to meet Derby? We are open Friday - Monday by advanced reservation on Mother’s Day Weekend. Tickets available on our website.
