As I'm finishing up my last 7 classes of the year, I am reflecting back on 3 years ago when I held my first barn quilt painting class 👇🤩
After a lot of encouragement and feedback from vendor events that year in 2023, I decided to jump in and see what would come out of teaching a class, and BOY did I learn so much from those students who showed me where I needed to improve and what to do differently for the future of classes. They gave me grace when I jumped into something not wholly prepared or a master at it yet. My mindset and motivation changed that day, and I'm grateful those people gave it a shot with me! What started out as having the students draw the pattern (which is by far the most stressful part), trying to complete the work in 3 hours, using plywood that I sanded forEVER, and not having all the necessary tools or quality paints has turned into something bigger. I could never have done it without your support and feedback. ❤️
I can't go without expressing appreciation to all the artists out there who have paved the way for barn quilt classes, artwork, and trails. Facebook and YouTube groups, pages, and channels have been my source for learning and those business people and creators inspire so many people. Although there may be different schools of thought in creating, the veterans are a wealth of knowledge and expertise and it only comes from trial and error, making all the mistakes, and making an abundance of pieces. I'm thankful for how much they all have helped me without even knowing me.
Once this year of classes are over, in these past 3 years, I have put in long hours organizing and preparing over 40 classes, drawn hundreds of patterns, painted lots of commissions, tried many vendor events, traveled all over central Indiana, gained over 1K followers, and met the most wonderful people. I've made a few mistakes and have had a couple hard lessons, but the immense support of the craft has been shocking. I knew doing what I loved needed to be shared, and it's proving I was right.
I just wanted to take a moment today to say a sincere THANK YOU to my customers who have turned to friends, the families who come together to make a memory, and all the people we get to meet at every class. I truly work so hard for you all and my family because I love doing this service and love all of you! ❤️
So here's to a Happy 3 year Anniversary of classes and many more to come! Thank you for spreading the bug, gifting, sharing, creating, and admiring all the barn quilt blocks!!! 🫶🙌 You are the BEST!
