Yep, it's mid October & we just harvested our 1st watermelon and it is GOOD!😋 🍉 Although we already had our plants growing, we weren't able to get the new area done until July. I guess having all of this hot weather helped us out.🌞

Build your own "Low Tunnel". Easy and budget friendly way to build a mini high tunnel to protect your plants from nature.

- 10 ft. 1/2" PVC
- 12" rebar stakes
- zipties
- 10 ft. wide netting

We installed ours in four 4' x 16' raised beds. PVC can be cut shorter to 8' or 6' length, but I wouldn't got any shorter due to needing to bend pvc to sit over rebar. We used white mesh netting, but frost clothe and deer netting can also be used on these low tunnels.

You can protect your plants from deer, cover vegetables to extend the growing season, and so much more.

We got the community garden cleaned out this past weekend! The bell peppers are still thriving, so we left them and we have not pulled the sweet potatoes yet.🫑🍠 THANK YOU to all of our volunteers that helped out this growing season, especially our wilsoncountymastergardeners friends. This garden is a very important to us to help create a healthier community!🌱

The Zinnias survived the drought!🌼🥵 They're still feeding the butterflies, moths, & a few bees that are still around.🦋🐝 We were able to deadhead & clean them up a little before the rain came. Now we get to look forward to seeing all of the lovely blooms until frost!😊
