We're hiring a Part-Time Store Team Member!

If you like variety, staying busy and working with people, this might be a great fit.

At Main Street Mercantile, you're not hired to stand in one spot and do one job all day. We're a small store and a small team, so everyone jumps in where they're needed.

One part of your shift might be helping customers and running the register. The next might be stocking shelves, putting away a delivery, working in produce, filling coolers or tackling something else that needs done.

No two shifts look exactly the same.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is dependable and shows up ready to work
• Enjoys variety and staying productive
• Is friendly and comfortable helping customers
• Notices when something needs done and jumps in
• Is willing to learn different parts of the store
• Works well as part of a small team

Previous grocery experience isn't required — we'll teach you what you need to know.

Approximately 20–30 hours/week with flexible scheduling.

We're open to different availability and would rather find a great person and build a schedule that works than rule someone out because they can't work a traditional schedule.

We're hiring a Store Manager / Retail Operations Lead!

Main Street Mercantile isn't a traditional grocery store — and this isn't a traditional grocery store management job.

We're a small, independent grocery store, which means our manager works in the operation while managing the operation. There will be times you're running the register while also keeping an eye on the store, directing the team, handling customer questions, working through orders, and tackling management tasks between customers.

We're looking for someone who can think while they work — someone who notices what needs done, prioritizes, solves problems and takes ownership without waiting for ownership to make every decision.

This position includes:

• Hands-on leadership — work alongside the team
• Real responsibility — oversee the day-to-day operation
• Think + do — manage while working the floor
• Build + improve — help us create better systems, not just follow them

Grocery or retail management experience is helpful, but it isn't necessarily required. We're more interested in finding someone with the right judgment, initiative, adaptability and willingness to learn.

Approximately 30–40 hours/week, with flexibility for the right person.

We don't believe being a manager automatically has to mean five 8-hour days every week. We're open to a traditional schedule, a shorter workweek, or a combination of longer and shorter days.

We'd rather find an exceptional person and build a schedule that works than lose the right candidate because they don't want a traditional 40-hour workweek.

If you're someone who likes being busy, enjoys figuring things out, can switch gears throughout the day and wants meaningful responsibility in a small business, we'd love to talk to you.

Maybe “chic” has less to do with what you wear—and more to do with what you choose to build. 💛

A grocery store in a town of 182. A farm raising food for families across the country. Kids growing up in the aisles. Customers we know by name. And a whole lot of stubborn belief that rural communities are still worth fighting for.

Turns out, building community through food is kinda chic.
