Is it a wet rat or a wet Flash?

Thankful for the rain but it would have been nice if it had been spread out in a reasonable way over the spring instead of just all in a big pile but we are thankful all the same!

We are doing our best to be as low chemical as possible on our w**d control which meant today was dig and chop out thistle and poison hemlock day. Thankfully, my sweet friend Dani came and helped me we were able to get quite a pile dug out before the rain hit.

THANK YOU JESUS FOR THE RAIN!!

Pond stocking day!! This is our first time adding fish to our pond so we have more questions than answers but we are hopefully optimistic and excited about better, bigger fish in the coming months and years! The kids LOVED it. Everett even rescued two minnows that had fallen through the cracks of the fish truck and were flopping on the pavement. A nice man gave him a water bottle to bring his minnows home in and he released them into the pond and to their fate.

It’s fun watching them enjoy all these activities with us. Farming with kids is just better.

We had such a fun day yesterday taking a family road trip. We brought Brenda(with her spicy heifer calf Glenna) and Dunedin down to our friends at for some future Epic babies. Yay!! While we were down there we were able to meet our two future guardian girl gang pups, Reina and Dottie. These girls are perfect and both our kids instantly fell in love with them! We are so grateful for Darrin and Lydia and fam for their friendship and wisdom! Highland cattle have connected us with some of the best people and we are grateful.

On the way back home we made a quick last minute stop at Weeping Willow Highlands and got to see their beautiful show calves, bottle feed a month old calf and catch up with Maddi Minnear and the Minnear crew. They are incredible and I’m excited to be all together at the in August.

Beyond grateful for these sweet friendships and mentors and also proud of ourselves for coming home with an empty trailer 😅

We can’t wait to bring two of these fluff monsters back to our farm this summer! If you’re looking to add a dog to your farm animal defense program, I highly recommend one of these!

Dunedin has turned my tractor tire into her personal itching spot. I think she’s beautiful and I can’t wait to get her paired with Epic from and she what lovely calf she gives us next year!

When you decide to escape the fence, you may end up with the a halter on you to the first time…and you may grow to like it!

Vi decided to take a quick walk around so we got her back in the pen, put her through the squeeze and then did a good halter training/brushing session with her. Progress always feels good!!

Sometimes you just have to take a break from the cows and plant some flowers! I love flowers and so we’ve decided to go bigger and plant 5 lbs of Zinnias and see if we can be swimming in wild flowers. Haha!

We will see how it turns out but I’m always optimistic and usually bite off more than I can chew 😂
