With an average sugar content of 1.43% and 93,500 gallons of sap we made 1,555 gallons of syrup.
We can roughly guess how much syrup we will make each day by using the rule of 86.
Take 86 and divide it by the sugar content of sap that day, then take the number of gallons collected that day and divide it by the previous answer to get a pretty accurate total of syrup you should make on that given day.
Ex. 86/1.43 =60.14 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup
93,500 gallons of sap this year / 60.14= 1,554.7 gallons of syrup!
Time to clean equipment and pull taps to get ready for next year!
