This New Holland Round baler is basically the same baler they had 10 years ago, They added a few things and changed the colors but it hasn't changed much in 10 years other than the price. It went up 261%. Deere and other companies are no better.
If the baler would have followed the price of hay it would be selling for $14250 not $74400.
How could this cost 46,000 more when in 2015 they sold for $28,500?
I highly doubt the workers who build this got a 261% pay increase. I know the implement dealers are not making 261% more.
In 2015 it took (14) 1500 lb sters to pay for this round baler. Today beef prices are a record high levels and it now takes 22 or more than 50% more to buy the same baler.
So the next time they tell you beef prices are high tell them to go shopping for machinery .
Beef went up 70% while this went up 261% and they wonder why we have fewer farmers.
If cattle prices went up the same has baler prices cattlemen would be getting $3.53/ lb for fat cattle.
If the price of hay went up the same round bales of stock hay hay would now be selling for $400/ ton

A single species cover crop is great, but with diversification you can do so much more. You can see in this picture how planting a diverse cover crop can affect the soil and fertility. The straight triticale and Soil Builder were planted on the same day and received the same fertilizer and manure.
