We’ve added a new game for our students… and the horses had thoughts about it....

First order of business: a little desensitizing.

Biggest shocker of the day: Rowan!
I didn’t catch him sneaking out of the barn, but he walked right up to the game like it was no big deal. Zero hesitation. Who is he?

Second biggest shocker: Harley actually WALKED past it.
Truly thought he’d be the first one to send it flying across the arena, but nope — he behaved like a gentleman.

Least surprising of all: Sidhgin was completely unphased.
Thanks to one of our staff members, there is very little left in this world that can rattle that horse. Our students are going to have so much fun with this one. Watching the horses figure it out might be even better.

🚜🐴 FRIENDS, FAMILY, STUDENTS & PARENTS! 🐴🚜

Feeling a little too comfortable lately? 😅 Looking for a reason to get outside, get moving, build some muscle, burn a few calories, and spend time with some amazing people?

We've got just the opportunity for you!

Southern STARRS is looking for volunteers to help us load and unload hay bales tomorrow. Each bale weighs approximately 40–50 lbs, so be ready for a little workout! 💪🌾

📍 We'll load hay at a field about 3 miles from our facility on Cairo Bend Road, transport it back to the barn, and unload.

🕓 When: Thursday, June 4, 2026
⏰ Start Time: 4:00 PM

Whether you're a student needing volunteer hours, a parent wanting to lend a hand, or just someone who isn't afraid of a little hard work, we'd love to have you join us!

Every child's journey looks different. 🌟

For some, that first visit means hopping right into the saddle. For others, it means standing safely beside a horse and offering a treat with a shaky hand.

And we celebrate BOTH. 🤍

Our therapy horses have a special way of helping children discover courage, one interaction at a time. Whether it's brushing a mane, sharing a treat, or receiving a gentle horse kiss, these small moments often become the foundation for something much bigger.

🐴 Confidence
🐴 Trust
🐴 Connection
🐴 Growth

No pressure. No expectations. Just love, patience, and plenty of horse snuggles.

📲 Tag a parent who has a child that loves animals or could benefit from spending time around horses!

We are looking forward to launching our horse encounters this summer!

It's tough to be a horse after free ranging in the pastures all day.
Goodnight Harley!

Sharing for New Leash on Life: Anyone with a washing machine they would be willing to donate to the shelter? Please contact NLOL at 615 444-1144.

🐾🐾🐾UPDATE: Generous family here in Lebanon is donating a new washer to us! We'll hopefully be picking it up tomorrow (Tuesday).
Thank you!!! 🐾🐾🐾

Well, this is one load we can't handle alone. (See what we did :) ) 🐾

Our washer at the Adoption Center has officially retired and the dogs and cats here generate a LOT of laundry. Blankets. Towels. Bedding. The list never ends.

We are hoping someone in our community might be able to help us out with a donated electric washing machine to keep everything clean and fresh for the animals in our care. If you have a working washer you are looking to replace, upgrade, or simply pass along, we would be so incredibly grateful. 💛

Reach out to us at [email protected] or give us a call at 615-444-1144 to arrange a donation. Please share or tag someone below who might be able to help!

Super proud mom moment! My 2nd oldest has officially graduated high school!
Eta 9 days till Marine boot camp!
He went to school, worked a full time job, played football, worked out with the marines 2- 3x a week, gets off work, comes home, works out in the garage or goes for runs around the neighborhood, carrying 20, 30, 40 lb bags, stopping every few minutes to do push-ups/sit-ups, burpees, and lunges. (pretty sure he is trying to be able to beat his older brother in..... everything he can.....) Maintained good grades, helped me clean the barn a few times, volunteered, and when he has time, does the dishes, cleans his room, his bathroom, helps clean his sisters barbie doll mess, mows the yard, and even made time to torture his sisters. (And, sometimes, me.)
Goodluck! I love you! I will miss you!
