Who needs a #cherryblossom festival when you have beautiful Elberta #peach #blossoms !! Here’s hoping the #frost holds off for the rest of #spring
Guess the #hens are back to laying… 60+ eggs in 3 days!! Collecting #eggs daily is back on the morning chores list 🤣 #loudounfarms #homestead #homesteadlife #homesteading
What a great start to the weekend! We love receiving boxes shaped like this! Inside is the promise of #spring and new #heirloom varieties of #fruit trees from #treesofantiquity to add to the #orchard here @homefarm1760 !! We truly love the high quality, fully feathered stock we receive from Trees of Antiquity, which always leaves us ample scion wood for new grafts to our existing trees!! Now time to prep the orchard for planting 👨🌾 #heirloomapples #treesofinstagram #fruittreesofinstagram #fruitgrowers #loudouncounty #loudouncountyva #loudounmade
I enjoy viewing these updated aerial photos and keeping track of how the gardens are evolving for the better! Thankful for my wonderful husband's strategic vision for the property, which he is consistently improving year after year!!! #homefarm1760 #loudoncounty #farm #ericisthebest
Test batch number one of our Northern Virginia #blackwalnut #syrup is in the books! We collected a little under 2 quarts of sap today from 15 trees (not quite optimal flow just yet) and couldn’t wait to start boiling! When all was said and done we ended up with just over an ounce of buttery nutty and oh sooooo good rich sweet syrup. Black walnut syrup is a distinct flavor all its own, coming closest to Grade A maple syrup with its delicate buttery taste. With a 40 to 1 ratio (the amount of sap you need to get syrup) we’re hoping for a bit more flow from our trees over the coming weeks 🤓 #loudounfarms #virginia #homestead #homesteading #farmtotable
We’re loving @elizaapples ‘ #hogtree naked #bacon - and using it as the base to a rustic #bolognese #sauce . Locally produced in Purceville, VA and Landover, MD by HogTree Farm and Epicurring, this bacon is cured in #blackwalnut - #maplesyrup , brown sugar, and native spiceberry. It’s both sweet and savory, and brings the perfect balance to the acid of a tomato sauce. You’ll find this bacon and much more at https://hogtree.com #purcellvilleva #epicurring #shoplocal #farmtotable #loudounvafarms #loudoun #loudouncounty #loudouncountyva #landovermd #maryland #virginia Eliza Greenman
Good Morning and Happy New Year from Rocco and Home Farm 1760! #pitbull #pitbullsofinstagram #homefarm1760 #happynewyear
It’s a windy night @homefarm1760 … we lost power yet again. Thank goodness for old #kerosene #lamps and fully charged #laptops you can syphon power off of so you can still watch #netflix … 19th Century meets 21st Century down at the farm 🤓… and the pups can still cuddle on their beds next to the thermostat controlled propane fireplace to boot!! #winning
It’s one of those mornings on the farm when you just want to stay under the covers for 5 more minutes… #pittiesofinstagram #farmdog #sleepingbeauty
This little passion #flower decided to open up after the 🌧 here @homefarm1760 … it’s a tropical looking beauty, but native to #virginia !! Also known as a Maypop the vine quickly scrambles up supports or along the ground to cover the area with blooms and edible fruit that’s great for #jelly !#flowersofinstagram #flowerstagram
The #farmdog life!! Just supervising the morning weed patrol 🤣. Do you have furry helpers in the #garden too? #dogsofinstagram #farmlife #gardenlife
The first #lotus of the season! We love seeing these beauties every summer at the farm. #flowerstagram
Midsummer #honey harvest time @homefarm1760. The girls have done an amazing job creating over 200 pounds of honey! For this harvest we gathered 45 pounds of this gorgeous golden treat. #bees #farm #farmtotable #beekeeping #farmerveterancoalition #loudonfarms
The #bumblebee s are out in force this morning. They simply love this lacecap #hydrangea .

The leaves may be a little tattered from sawfly larvae (rose slugs) but the #flowers of this #davidaustinroses Teasing Georgia are still gorgeous! We like to allow some “pests” like #rose slugs and #aphids a home in our #garden @homefarm1760 . These #insects invite in beneficial predators like birds, #ladybugs, and lacewings creating the foundation for a healthy #ecosystem to help more #naturally control pest populations. #flowerstagram
The mid #spring blooms are coming into their own (and about two weeks earlier than years previous) here @homefarm1760 . The delicate #larkspur and #aquilegia (#columbineflower) are beginning to take over for the bulbs, with #geranium Rozanne not far behind! Have you noticed earlier #blooms this year in your area and #garden ?
What a gorgeous day @homefarm1760 ... Rocco (aka #farmdog number one) is loving the sun and all the smells of #spring. Does your #furbaby love soaking up the rays? #pittiesofinstagram #pittienation #pitties #dogsofinstagram #homefarm

Morning bath for this little girl. Some small complications during the hatch, but Eric saved her just in time. What shall we name her? ❤️❤️❤️
Mother Nature is beautiful but it can also be viscous. One of our poor chickens is an example of just that. RIP our girl! ❤️❤️❤️ #mothernature #chicken #chickensofinstagram #farm #homefarm1760 #survivalofthefittest #hawk
#farmdog #1 , Rocco aka #simba thinks it’s #halloween for the family #christmastree photo with his sister Zoey.... guess it’s a #pittie thing , or a #2020 thing ... but, any who ... here’s to the start of a great #holiday season 🤓
The #farmdogs are helping to get the #potting #shed ready for Winter. Lots of organizing #seeds for Spring, and cleaning #claypots for #planting .
Holiday decorations don’t have to be expensive💰!! Better yet, they can all be free!! Let Mother Nature and your imagination guide you! Take a walk and just start picking! Find a place, vase, and space and it will all come together!! Happy Thanksgiving from Home Farm 1760!!! ❤️❤️❤️
The #pottingshed @homefarm1760 is nearing completion! We cannot wait to start our #plant #propagation this late Winter. Remember, just because it’s a #shed doesn’t mean it can’t be #perfectlysplendid !! 🤓
Busy weekend at Home Farm, even the pups are exhausted!! Could not have asked for better weather though!! Any suggestions on what to plant in our new beds?!
Home Farm 1760 updated their business hours.
After a year of sitting on the back burner we’re finally putting the finishing touches on our #pottingshed and #honey house @homefarm1760 ... what #suggestions do you have for #building #benches and #storage ? Let’s see your #inspiration !! #sheshed #beekeeping
We hope you enjoy this simple no fuss frittata recipe, and remember, delicious meals don’t have to be difficult or time consuming, sometimes, simple is best!
We routinely make this quick, and easy breakfast using our farm fresh eggs, and left-over vegetables from the garden. Although a traditional frittata starts on the stove and ends in the oven, we prefer this all bake opti...
An easy and simple recipe for that abundance of fresh Summer tomatoes! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
With working full time, attending school online, and managing the farm, we are all about saving time where we can. This Summer Tomato Pasta dish is simple, comes together quickly, and is absolutely healthy and delicious!...
How cool is this?! While feeding the chickens this weekend, we discovered a large egg covered in mud inside the chicken run. We washed it off, and uncovered a gorgeous spotted tan egg. Upon our research, we concluded that it was that of a wild turkey but we just couldn’t figure out how or why a wild turkey would be in our chicken pen. This morning, we found another “wild turkey” egg but it was inside the chicken coop...our conclusion is MR. GOBBLES IS A MRS. GOBBLES!!! 😬
The #lotus are blooming @homefarm1760 in #leesburgva . We love the simple #beauty of these magnificent nelumbo nucifera, or sacred lotus flowers. The tubers are also edible, and great for #salad and #soup ! #flowersofinstagram #flowerstagram @ Home Farm (Leesburg, Virginia)
It’s tomato season at Home Farm 1760! During the summer months we try to eat as many fresh off the plant, in season veggies as possible. Last night was a simple dinner of bruschetta and Caprese Salad bites made from our gorgeous and delicious heirloom tomatoes. The great thing about bruschetta is that it’s extremely versatile!! You can add it as a topping on an omelette, toss it into cold or hot pasta as a sauce, place it on top of essentially any protein (chicken, fish, and shrimp are the best!), use it as a base for tomato soup, or simply enjoy it by itself. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do!!
Bruschetta (serves 3-4):
2 cups tomatoes (I prefer cherry or heirloom varieties) diced
3 garlic gloves minced
10 basil leaves thinly sliced (chiffonade)
Salt and pepper
4 tablespoons of good extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Mix all ingredients ingredients together in a large bowl. Salt and pepper to taste. Salt is the ingredient that brings out all the amazing flavors so taste as you go. Serve and enjoy!
Caprese Salad bites(serves 2):
10-1/4 inch thick cut mozzarella cheese slices
10-1/4 inch thick heirloom tomato or any type of vine ripened tomato
10 Basil leaves
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Layer sliced tomato, mozzarella and basil leaf. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Bon appetit!
Let us know how you enjoy eating your tomatoes, would love to try some new recipes!
