We had an incredible, amazing, busy weekend, and we enjoyed every minute of it!! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us!!!

On Friday, Home Farm 1760 was featured as part of Loudoun County’s Farmer’s Trading Card Program. We showcased our goods at Segra Field during the Loudoun United home soccer game, and were honored by opening the game with the coin toss!! During the event, we met our fellow farmers, creating new relationships and friends!

On Saturday, Home Farm officially opened its gates to the public, selling our goods straight from the farm to the community!!

We are amazed by the support our friends, neighbors, and community has shown us! We connected with neighbors, business owners, and forged more relationships!!

We are excited to continue to share our farm with y’all, and THANK YOU again for your support!!!

Happy New Year!! It’s been a minute since our last update - we’ve been tirelessly wrapping up late chores on the that should have been done months ago while getting ready for and dealing with crazy swings in weather. And like that season for is here! We thought this was going to be the year we could really start rolling out our various and hard to find and selections for sale. Guess had other plans 🤣 . A recent wind storm wiped out part of our fence that was protecting our young heirloom - this was definitely a shoestring protection system using old 1960s era horse fencing with uprights added supporting 100lb UV resistant fishing line at 1ft intervals, tensioned in place with eye hooks, for a total of 8ft of height, protecting against most animal damage except 🎅🏻 and his 🦌. Our fencing did the job for a little over two years. Within a day of the fencing coming down from the very large tree that blew over (visible in a before and after pic), aka the , aka found our babies and proceeded to gorge on the tender tips of our future scion wood, with the rubbing against the young trees extensively girdling several. Our initial gut feeling was to go all on these , but abstaining from a murderous rampage was one of our New Year’s . So instead of we contacted !! In a little over two days Crooked Creek has cleared away most of the monstrous tree, old fencing and prepped for placing the 10’ support poles for our new high security deer repellent system. We’re still debating adding razor wire, landmines, guard turrets, and a 🤣 Lots of thanks to for their quick help!! We’ll post pics of the completed in the coming weeks … and in the meantime please feel free to visit our website store for our current selection of scion ready for order! Homefarm1760.com

Many condolences to all our Commonwealth friends and colleagues on the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen shepherded the Commonwealth through the horrors of WWII, and the fear of the Cold War, GWoT, and multiple either crises, with an unparalleled optimism for the future. Y’all!!! It’s berry season, and you have to try this bumble berry pie! We’ve had a surplus of wild at the and didn’t have quite enough to make or so we decided to make a ! If you didn’t know bumble berry is a mix of different types of in season berries - it’s a great flavor that is bright and sweet with a nice acidic balance. This is a super easy pie we modified from rhubarb pie. Best to make the filling in a large bowl. You’ll need about 6 cups of berries - we mixed all our together , wild blackberry and Ouachita blackberry. Add 2 cups of chopped rhubarb. Add in about 3/4 cup of sugar (more or less up to 1 cup depending on the sweetness of the berries and your sweet tooth 🤣). We added the zest and juice of half a lime for brightness, but you could substitute this with a lemon or skip it all together. Mix the berries, zest, juice, and sugar all around in the bowl, and add 1/3 cup flour (this will help thicken the juice), and mix until the flour is fully incorporated. We used pie crust, which made this pie super easy to pull together last minute , but any good pie dough recipe will do the trick too. We put the pie dough into a lightly greased glass 9 inch pan, and added the filling. We then decorated the top with an open lattice pattern (really easy, just alternate over/under) you could also use a cookie cutter and place pieces of pie dough on top slightly overlapping, or duly cover the top with dough (just remember to put plenty of vent holes in the top to allow the steam to escape). Dab some milk on top of the pie dough and sprinkle with sugar (this helps give it the golden color). Bake the pie in a preheated 475 degree oven for 15 minutes, then drop the temperature to 375 and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes. Let it cool (or not - we love warm pie with ice cream 🍨 😋) and enjoy!! Let us know how you like it!!

We’re planting out some Heatmaster for an extended season here . By staggering our planting times, also known as succession planting, we are able to stretch out the crop of this great heat tolerant determinate 🍅 variety. We also heavily, with a two to four inch top dressing of , to give our plants an extra boost of slow release feed, and added protection from the summer heat. Mulching with any organic matter is a great way to increase the water retention ability of your soil while also increasing its quality and structure over time. The mulch also helps to suppress new w**d growth making caring for your plants that much easier.
